Dr. Brenda Paulen

Dr. Brenda Paulen, DMD; ProudSmiles; 5180 Roswell Road, N.W.; South Building – Suite 101; Atlanta, GA 30342 (404) 257-0091 www.proudsmiles.com
Dr. Brenda Paulen is a native Atlantan and, as a second-generation dentist, she comes from a family dedicated to dentistry. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Emory University and her Doctorate of Dentistry from the University of Pennsylvania in 1984. After serving metro-Atlanta for nearly twenty years, Dr. Paulen opened Proud Smiles Dental in Sandy Springs, in August 2002, with the specific vision of providing a more personal health-centered approach to dental care.
Trained in both restorative and cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Paulen has attended an extensive array of continuing education courses to remain current with the recent advances in dental treatment techniques and technology. This includes courses covering advanced endodontics (root canal treatments), implant restorations, and a special concentration of over 100 hours on treating occlusal (bite) conditions. Dr. Paulen was one of the first doctors in the Atlanta area to offer Invisalign invisible braces, and was also one of the first to use a digital impression process (iTero) that replaces the traditional putty-based approach.
Dr. Paulen is proud to be member of the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity, a philanthropic and continuing education organization. She is also a member of both the American Dental Association and the Georgia Dental Association, and she is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry where she is working towards both her Fellowship and Masters accreditation.
Brenda has also been an active ProWIN member for more than three years. She has served on our membership committee and is a regular participant in our luncheons and special member events. She is also involved in our “table host” program and has been a luncheon sponsor.

Did You Know?
Six Tips for Keeping Your Mind Focused

1. Exercise regularly – Studies show that regular exercise encourages the growth of new cells by increasing oxygen flow to the brain and increases neurotransmitters in the brain that play a role in cognition. Aim for a half-hour of moderate exercise per day, but if you don’t have time for a full workout, break it down into 10-minute intervals.

2. Keep your mind challenged – do crossword puzzles or Sudoku, learn a new hobby or a foreign language, read…all of these activities challenge your mind and help keep it sharp.

3. Socialize - Experts say that social interaction wards off depression and alleviates the effects of stress, both of which are believed to contribute to memory loss. Invite a friend or loved one out for a meal and reconnect over the holiday season!

4. Eat healthy – A heart-healthy diet can help improve brain function. That piece of pumpkin pie may be tempting, but concentrate on getting enough fruits, vegetables, and whole grains in your diet, and try to eat more lean proteins.

5. Relax - meditate, listen to music, go for a long walk in the forest, take a hot bath – whatever helps you to destress can help increase your brain power.

6. Get enough sleep – easier said than done, but lack of sleep can lead to problems with key skills such as planning, problem-solving, learning, concentration, memory, and alertness.
